Synovus → Pinnacle: what changes for your money
Synovus Bank merged into Pinnacle Bank on January 2, 2026 — but Synovus still operates under its own brand, and its single routing number, 061100606, is unchanged and Bank-verified against synovus.com with a screenshot. Full consolidation under the Pinnacle brand is planned for early 2027.
What to know
- Synovus publishes one routing number for everything — 061100606 — on its contact page, wire instructions, and direct-deposit guidance. Bank-verified here with a captured screenshot.
- The Synovus brand keeps operating until the early 2027 consolidation under the Pinnacle name — the bank says the interim changes (cards, signage) "won't affect your access to services and support."
- International wires don't use an ABA number at all — Synovus's instructions use SWIFT FICOUS44 with correspondent banks. Get the full instructions from the bank before an international transfer.
- Will account or routing numbers change in 2027? Synovus's own FAQ is candid: "We are still very early in this process with a lot of work ahead of us to determine details like these." Nothing is committed either way — watch for direct notice.
- Deposits at Synovus and Pinnacle are separately FDIC-insured for a six-month grace period after the merger — if you hold large balances at both, check your combined coverage before the grace period lapses.
How it happened
- July 24, 2025 — Pinnacle Financial Partners and Synovus announce a definitive agreement to combine — an all-stock transaction valued at $8.6 billion, with the combined company operating "under the Pinnacle Financial Partners and Pinnacle Bank name and brand." (Joint announcement (SEC Form 425 exhibit))
- November 2025 — Shareholders approve the combination (Nov 6); bank regulatory approvals follow on Nov 25–26. (Pinnacle completion release)
- January 2, 2026 — The holding companies merge January 1; the bank merger completes January 2 — the FDIC records Synovus Bank's charter (CERT 873) merging into Pinnacle Bank, the surviving bank. Synovus's own transition page: the two "began operating as a single firm on January 2, 2026." (FDIC BankFind institution history (CERT 873))
- Aug–Dec 2026 (planned) — Per Synovus's transition page: Pinnacle-branded debit cards go to Synovus clients (Aug–Oct) and new Pinnacle signs go up at Georgia and Alabama offices (Oct–Dec) — "This won't affect your access to services and support." (Synovus transition page)
- Early 2027 (planned) — Full transition to Pinnacle — systems and brand. This is the window to watch for any changes to numbers; watch for direct notice from the bank. (Synovus transition page)
Synovus + Pinnacle questions
Is Synovus now Pinnacle?
Yes — Synovus Bank merged into Pinnacle Bank on January 2, 2026, per the FDIC's charter record, with Pinnacle as the surviving bank and brand. Synovus keeps operating under its own name until the full transition to Pinnacle, planned for early 2027.
Did Synovus's routing number change?
No. As of July 5, 2026, synovus.com still prints its routing number — 061100606 — on its contact page, wire instructions, and direct-deposit guidance, and we've Bank-verified it with a screenshot. It's one number for ACH, direct deposit, and domestic wires alike.
Will 061100606 change when Synovus becomes Pinnacle?
Synovus hasn't committed either way. Its own transition FAQ says: "We are still very early in this process with a lot of work ahead of us to determine details like these." The full systems transition is planned for early 2027; banks give direct advance notice when numbers change. We'll update this page when the bank publishes specifics.
What happens to FDIC insurance after the merger?
Per Synovus's transition page, deposits at each institution remain separately insured for a six-month grace period after the merger, up to $250,000 per depositor per ownership category. If you hold accounts at both Synovus and Pinnacle, review your combined coverage before that grace period ends.
Which number do I use for wires to Synovus?
Domestic wires use the same 061100606, per Synovus's own wire instructions. International wires don't use an ABA number — Synovus's instructions use SWIFT code FICOUS44 through correspondent banks, so get the full current instructions from the bank before sending internationally.
